Ms. Deanna Cottrell, PChem is an environmental specialist with over 20 years of experience. Deanna is actively involved in Alberta’s water community as Co-chair of both the CAPP Water Task Group and as a Director on the Alberta Water Council. Ms. Cottrell has expertise with managing specialized environmental projects, including forensic chemical investigations, waste treatment and management, spill response for petroleum releases, risk assessments for site closure as well as water sourcing projects.  In her current role, Deanna is responsible for development and implementation of water related strategy in compliance with all local, provincial and federal requirements as well as Shell’s internal best practices for Unconventional and Legacy Assets in North America.

An Overview of Sulfolane – A review of where and when it is used, chemical properties, challenges associated with use and management. Discussion of some of the recent work completed by Shell and others on this topic as well as lessons learned to date.
