Abstract:
Unlike any time before oil and gas companies and the Orphan Well Fund have been struggling to abandon non producing assets. Being handcuffed financially these firms have all struggled to keep up and make a profit in the depressed world oil market price.

WACORP was founded in 2014 by three local Calgary entrepreneur’s with Wireline, O&G Operator and Legal backgrounds. The questions were raised on how could current abandonment’s become more efficient like what has been seen in new completion technology? The prominent answer was to eliminate the very slow process of pressure testing plugs and casing with tubing and packers. Even at 60 meters per minute wireline is 90% faster than tripping with pipe. What would it mean economically if producers could abandon three zones in a day vs. one per day in a 1000m well? We believe that many would benefit from this technology being brought forward. WACORP looks forward to presenting the solution to this problem old vs. new at the WIA Society meeting on September 21, 2017.
