Summary
On a previously suspended well, a vent flow had been noted and usually tested at approximately 65 m3/day for a number of years. A recent compliance inspection brought to light the significant rate change to over 300 m3/day, so the flow became serious and required immediate intervention.

The well had a very minimal suite of open hole logs so it was decided to run a full suite prior to putting a rig on the well to accurately determine the source, or sources, and reduce the number of interventions to one. The logging suite consisted of the HPT/SNL, a conventional LMI noise tool (actually 2) and the Roke Quad Neutron log to gain insight into the uphole hydrocarbon bearing zones. A full wellbore radial cement bond log was also ran prior to the final LMI noise tool run.

The talk will highlight interesting learnings from the logs and subsequent remediation.
